Hand-Folded Fine Silver Origami Leaf Necklace
You can find all of these fine silver origami items in the FoldIT Creations Etsy Shop
Happy New Year World! While Christmas came and went as did 2013. With the New Year comes new beginnings and a chance to reflect on the previous year. 2013 was an amazing year for FoldIT Creations and it was all due to the endless support of friends, family and strangers from across the globe. This year I’ve shipped to China, Japan, Australia, France, Mexico, Ukraine and just about every corner of this not-so-flat Earth. My jewellery has seen more countries than I have at this point.
Toronto is filled with snow and cold weather these days so I am spending a lot more time inside and that means a lot more time creating in my little workshop (aka living room). I am leaning more toward the fine silver line these days. While I love the colours and prints of the Japanese paper, the silver is something special and allows me to preform a little modern day alchemy by marrying mystical and healing gemstones with animal totems. I really love it. I have also acquired a metal stamping kit this Christmas thanks to a very special santa clause who has been creeping the items in my Etsy cart.
Anyway, enough chatter. Here are some pics I took of the things I have been making recently and things now up in the Etsy shop.
It’s been kind of a crazy few weeks here at FoldIT Creations. I was working like a little elf until the wee hours of the morning to process Etsy orders and prepare for all the Christmas shows. I am happy to say that I got everything in the mail on time and survived the Toronto Christmas market scene in one piece. Hallelujah!
Now on forward to 2014! FoldIT Creations will be attending the Leslieville Flea here in Toronto on Sunday, January 19th and Sunday, February 23rd. The events will take place in the historic Distillery District at The Fermenting Cellar located at 28 Distillery Lane from 10am-5pm. Check out the Leslieville Flea website for more details and vendor information.
Lastly, FoldIT Creations will be participating this week in the Etsy Canada Boxing Day Sale along with 500+ other Etsians from across the country. Use coupon code: “BOXINGDAY” at checkout to receive 20% off orders of $40 or more. The Boxing day sale begins on the 26th of December and continues until midnight on the 29th. Have a look around, you may find something of interest and get a great deal on something handmade with love. Happy shopping! ❤
Finally after what seemed like eternity waiting for my PMC sheet silver and Kiln which were held up in customs at the Canada-US border, they arrived over the weekend and I didn’t waste a minute. I was pretty happy to get them photographed and up in the shop before Sunday was over. The first pair of fine silver earrings and necklace sold within 2 hours of posting the listing. I am still waiting on my cabochon gemstones from Thailand and a few other tools before I can begin setting stones in my work. Check out the etsy page for more.
After a summer hiatus working as an ESL instructor at an International summer camp here in Ontario, I’m back at it-folding and working on new jewelry for the upcoming Christmas season. If you are in the Toronto area, mark your calendars for the December 14th Toronto Etsy Street Team Christmas Marketplace being held at the Church of St.Stephen-in-the-Fields in Kensington Market from 11:00AM – 5:30PM. Come out and get some original hand-made christmas gifts from local artisans.
Here are some pics of some new things I have made and are up in the FoldIT Creations Etsy shop. Enjoy!
The Toronto Etsy Street Team Springtime Market is just a little over a week away and I am working like a mad man! I have my display idea solidified and most of my cases, display fixtures and frames purchased. It’s a matter of figuring out the dimensions of the space and how I will lay everything out. The theme of my booth will be Mid-Century Oriental Curiosity Shop. I envision a traveller returning from Asia with wonderful curiosities to exhibit. I cant wait! If you are in the Greater Toronto Area on Saturday June 1st, 2013, come out to 918 Bathrust (just north of Honest Ed’s) and support the wonderful local artisans of Toronto.
I am really excited to be working on some higher end products with sterling silver and gemstones for the Etsy Show. I am also working on a new line of origami pendants and sterling silver chains. It feels good to be able to offer my customers a range of products that meets their needs and desires. Here are the first two chains and pendants that I made and sold in the FoldIT Creations Etsy Shop last week:
Something that also excited me quite a bit this week is the recognition and support I have been getting from fellow Etzians. I am continually surprised and thankful by the feedback I get from other Etsy sellers and enthusiasts about my creations. Everyone has days where they doubt what they are doing and its moments like these that validate and reinforce the pride with which you work and create. Handmade enthusiast blogger Ellie of My Little Chickadee’s Blog kindly featured my tiny coral crane earrings on her Pick of the Day section this week. Pay her blog a visit and follow her across all social media platforms, she has a lot of great things going on.
I am excited to announce that FoldIT Creations has been selected as one of the vendors for the 4th Annual Toronto Etsy Street Team Springtime Marketplace. The market will be held at 918 Bathurst Street (a few blocks north of Bathurst subway station) on Saturday, June 1st from 11:00am – 5:30pm. Join their facebook event page and come out to support your hardworking Toronto Etzians and make sure you stop by the FoldIT Creations table to say “hello!”
FoldIT Creations will have a whole new selection of sterling silver origami crane post earrings to sell. Here are a few previews:
Oh my gosh! What a week! It’s Saturday night and I’m folding more tiny origami crane post earrings for Mother’s Day orders to be filled and shipped by Monday morning. They are going to new homes as near as the GTA (Greater Toronto Area where I live) and as far as New Zealand.
My Etsy shop this week was abuzz with a flurry of new followers, likes and orders. A treasury featuring my coral-colored crane post earrings made the front page of handpicked section on Etsy. So, for a short 30 minutes or so, anyone who visited the Etsy homepage anywhere in the world saw my earrings pop up. My iPhone Etsy app was going off like it was no ones business and when it rains it pours!
I’m so thankful to Jihye Rim of Suwon, South Korea who created the treasury that featured my earrings; the ripples of which are still being felt days later with more shop likes, followers and treasury features. A million Thank Yous Jihye!
