It’s been kind of a crazy few weeks here at FoldIT Creations. I was working like a little elf until the wee hours of the morning to process Etsy orders and prepare for all the Christmas shows. I am happy to say that I got everything in the mail on time and survived the Toronto Christmas market scene in one piece. Hallelujah!
Now on forward to 2014! FoldIT Creations will be attending the Leslieville Flea here in Toronto on Sunday, January 19th and Sunday, February 23rd. The events will take place in the historic Distillery District at The Fermenting Cellar located at 28 Distillery Lane from 10am-5pm. Check out the Leslieville Flea website for more details and vendor information.
Lastly, FoldIT Creations will be participating this week in the Etsy Canada Boxing Day Sale along with 500+ other Etsians from across the country. Use coupon code: “BOXINGDAY” at checkout to receive 20% off orders of $40 or more. The Boxing day sale begins on the 26th of December and continues until midnight on the 29th. Have a look around, you may find something of interest and get a great deal on something handmade with love. Happy shopping! ❤
My new favorite origami design is actually a simple one. The 8-point modular star. When I learn a new design that can be turned into jewelry I usually become obsessed with that one design for at least 2 weeks. I fold it over and over until it is imprinted into my mind and I could do it with my eyes closed. It is border line obsessive behavior. There is something satisfying to me about modular origami; folding multiple pieces that interlock to form a solid, sturdy geometric form.
The following link is to a youtube video for all you DIY people who want to try it. Keep in mind, the actual video is for making a Christmas ornament, but its the general design thats important. It’s really simple, you just have to have patience, time and some awesome chiyogami paper. Fold On!
