Better Late than Never!
Hey everyone! I have been incredibly MIA as of late and too busy to post on the FoldIT Creations blog. Between juggling my 2 day jobs, making things and doing shows its been a bit of a time management challenge (oh and I was in Mexico too!). I have just finished my art teaching job for the summer and soon will finish at the the cafe I work at and move back to Kawarthas region of Ontario where I will teach English and work as a live-in camp counsellor/ teacher for the summer. I can’t wait. Campfires, boating on the lake, archery and all that fun summer stuff I did as a kid. The Etsy shop will be closed as of the 22nd of June and will open up again in late August for business so if there is anything you have been eyeing for summer get your order in before the 22nd and you should be fine.
This past weekend was filled with Etsy related fun. On Friday I attended the really fun Etsy Craft Party here in Toronto at Sew Be It Studio (thanks for the gracious hosting). We came, we drank, we crafted! With an emphasis on the drinking and crafting! Nothing like red wine and glitter (I’ve been dusting if off me for days). It was a lot of fun and I met a lot of new people from the Etsy community which is always nice when you have been shut up for weeks making things. This weekend was also the Annual Toronto Etsy Street Team Springtime Marketplace. I did this one last year and it is always a well planned event with lots of other Toronto-based Etsians showcasing their goods offline. Thanks for all the hard work to those who organized! 🙂
Finally, on Sunday we were at the Annex Flea right here in my Toronto neighbourhood. Throughout the summer it will be taking place behind Honest Ed’s in the parking parking lot rain or shine… this week it rained! However, only those awesome hardcore people came out and that made our day! FoldIT Creations shared a tent with the new to the handmade-scene Jinny Wong of Fuzzy Belly Creations. It was a pleasure to share a tent with these awesome people and their cute little baby boy who was so easy going. We hope to see you again <3.
And enough typing…. here are some photos! 🙂 XO

Come out and get some original hand-made christmas gifts from local artisans.
Here are some pics of some new things I have made and are up in the FoldIT Creations Etsy shop. Enjoy!

New Leaf and Butterfly Earrings Up In My Etsy Shop
Common Spring!
The snow has finally melted here in Toronto! The temperature in the last few weeks has been quite capricious, hovering in the positive range then dipping back down into the negatives just as we begin to feel comfortable. I’ve noticed on my walks to and from work on Queen West that the ground thaw has allowed a few hearty and anxious sprouts to pop up. This is quite inspiring for me. Winters are always pretty brutal, and I thrive in the summer. So seeing the flowers beginning their growing season is kind of like a promise that things are only going to get better.
I started playing around with some floral themed origami this week. Blossoms just in time for spring. There are also some new paper spring blossom post earrings (pictured at the end of this post) up in the Etsy shop. Enjoy the sunny days and milder weather. I can’t wait to ride my bike in shorts. Peace.
I’ve got Butterflies!
On Monday February 18th, I’ll be doing my first show and I’ve got the butterflies. The city of Toronto is having an ‘Everything Pop-up and Paper’ event at Zion Historic Schoolhouse for family day. The theme is paper and will showcase hand made items made in paper by various local artists. I will be selling my origami earrings at the event as well as teaching kids how to make various simple origami designs. I miss working with kids so I can’t wait for Monday to spend the day folding with the public. Tonight I sit with my new bone folder and my tiny chiyogami squares folding la fosse butterflies to sell at the show…. With a glass of wine of course.
